Book Pitch Party at Books with Pictures!

I had the pleasure meeting a great group of children's authors this past Saturday at Books with Pictures comic shop in Portland. Thanks Nichole Robinson for hosting a fine pitch party, and for inviting Believe In Wonder and Rob Broder of Ripple Grove Press.

​I had a student say to me the other day, "You make books, so you must be rich." After I stopped laughing (not at him, but just in general) I had to set him straight. "No lil'man, I'm not rich. In fact, I have to work really hard just to get by. But I'll tell you this, every hour I spend making art or writing stories, or spending time with my family, is an hour that I'm living my dream." Living your dream isn't easy – it is, in fact, very difficult. The rewards of working at something that you love, however, are immeasurable. #truth
