Everyone has that teacher in high school that brings the concepts you're learning to life. That teacher that transcends being a mere authority figure, and becomes a friend. I luckily had a few (which is strange, since I had few friends amongst my classmates) but one that stood out amongst them was Ms. Celia Hall. I learned today that she has passed on, and I am most sincerely and deeply heartbroken. What do you say when you loose someone who has inspired you to be the person you are today? How do you grieve for a wonderful, beautiful person who encouraged you through the darkness and self doubt of youth? Are there words that capture the depth of gratitude you feel towards a teacher and a mentor? I'm not sure there are – there is only action. There is only the drive to honor their gifts to you. There is only the love that is left to share with others, the same as it was shared with you. Ms. Hall had a light about her, a light that shown to everyone that had the privileged of knowing her. She changed lives with that light – may we all aspire to do the same.
