Although won't be making our AK trip this month, we are still keeping Believe In Wonder active in the community. We'll be tabling at East Portland Arts + Literary Festival this weekend! #BelieveInWonder #diversityinpublishing
Here is more info on the event: Join us for this full-day festival led by artists of color exploring what it means to immigrate, migrate, and find home -- the first of its kind hosted by APANO in East Portland! JAMS' empty 8,000 square feet will be transformed into four immersive stages featuring visual art, film, performance, storytelling, plus a book & craft fair with local writers and creators. This festival is the LAST public event at the Jade/APANO Multicultural Space (JAMS) before it is demolished and transformed into a mixed-use development, community center, and affordable housing! Stay tuned for our official lineup to be announced shortly! Suggested Donation: $5 No one will be turned away for lack of funds Access: JAMS is ADA-accessible, with one ramp leading to the main entrance on SE 81st Avenue and one ADA-accessible restroom. There will be amplified sound and some stage lighting. ASL interpretation for Main Stage performances will be provided and for R&R Lounge programs on request. Please note that the capacity of JAMS is 400, and we may need to turn guests away if in the rare case the venue reaches capacity. This event is part of MicCheck!, a summer cultural event series organized by the Arts & Media Project (AMP) at the Asian Pacific American Network of Oregon. MicCheck! utilizes the arts to illuminate pressing issues affecting Asians and Pacific Islanders and multiracial communities of color. Visit apano.org/mic-check for the full lineup.
