I present the cover design for The Magic We Miss, An Anthology of the Magic Around Us! The idea has lived rent-free in my head for over two years. It's super satisfying to get it out into the world. I even went and did some reference photos at Beaverton Transit Center. A really nice guy on his way to the airport helped me with some of the shots. Josie and I can't wait to share this book, filled with incredible tales of magic around us, each lovingly created by from our fellow Oregon storytellers. Josie and I had a great time at the Bridge Builders Breakfast hosted by Bridge Meadows and sponsored Bank of America, MeyerPro, and PNC Bank. It's wonderful to get a chance to speak about our experiences storytellers and as foster parents! We also got the chance to meet Jenny Abeling and Mary Matthews, the creators of A Kids Book About Long-term Care! We got to share the stage with amazing people, and we had amazing conversations throughout. A big thanks to all the attendees for your kind words and for supporting the work we do. #BelieveInWonder
WOW! What a busy few weeks! I had a great time at the Oregon Library Association event! Got a chance to rub elbows with some awesome librarians and some fellow creators, which is always a joy . Thank you everybody that stopped by, asked about the work, or just shared a story. They were all great moments! I got blocked in the hard working Salem Fire Department, but it's all good (thank you for your service) and even had two Ooligan Publishing students come by. They were part of the class that edited Nicholas Book 2! They were both so gracious and excited to see the book out in the world. Such a joy!
We followed this event up with a great tabling opportunity at the illustrious Powells Bookstore in Beaverton, OR! We got to meet families, talk about storytelling, and share creative joy! It was a real honor to be in such an inspiring space. #authorlife #BelieveInWonder |
