Post 1: Seasons of Wonder
This is the piece that started it all! While working for a credit union in the marketing department, I found myself getting really depressed about my art. "I'm not telling stories," I'd tell myself, which has been my life long dream. Of course when I told Josie, she gave me her patiented "short form wisdom" - brilliantly susinct and too the point. She said, "Well, make something that inspires YOU." Genius! So, we talked it out and the product our discussion was a series of illustrations titled "Seasons of Wonder." It harkens back to those childhood days running with friends when anything was possible - when your imagination could change the world around you to whatever you wanted. I think we still hold that power inside us. We just have to remember how to use it. #BelieveInWonder #KeepShiningBright

We live in a world filled with beauty if we take a moment to look. Josie and I have been inspired by our friends and fellow creatives over the last few days who, in the midst of fear and uncertainty, have decided use this time to create and share their inspiration and joy. Over the course of the next two weeks, we will be sharing our art and love of stories with everyone. We'll feature a #BelieveInWonder book art piece of art everyday, talk a little about our creative process, and feature some links in case you want to grab a copy for yourself our someone you love (maybe a kiddo whose stuck at home in need of another world to explore.) Everyone out there who is finding time to see the beauty and make their art, we are with you - #KeepShiningBright
Thank you King Elementary and Black Parent Initiative for hosting me at their Jack’s and Jammies event! What a great group of kiddos! I had a blast. #BelieveInWonder
Big thanks to APANO and the organizers of this year's festival! I had a lot of great visitors to my table (one kiddo and his family had me almost in tears of joy.) I also had a chance to read The Pawsons Move In with a creative group of kids - best part of my job. All and all, another amazing event :) Photos by Tojo Andrianarivo.

What a wonderful collection of creatives from all over the Portland area. We were proud to be counted amongst them. Big thanks to the participants, and to the sponsors (especially those helping out in the kids section - what a life saver!) We had a great time selling books and geeking out with our fellow storytellers. #believeinwonder I recently had the privilege of speaking on a panel on Comics Activism with some very talented people, including panel lead Ben Passmore, Pharoah Bolding, Clara Emiliana, Nichole Robinson, and Sean Wynn. It's always a joy to lend my voice to promoting diversity in literature, encouraging underrepresented groups to share their stories, and being an advocate for creativity in all its myriad forms. It's especially nice when surrounded by such talented, gracious, and cool people as these. Thanks for having me! Check out the video below! #BelieveInWonder It's finally done! #FantasyDressedAnimals will be available to purchase on Amazon March 14th! This one (and all the books before it) was a labor of love, and I'm excited to share it with you. On the release day, I'll be live posting with the book and original drawings. I'll talk about my process, inspirations, and what's next for Believe In Wonder Publishing. Tune in and ask questions - I love questions!
